A Legacy of Craftsmanship
Founded by whisky brokers Hay & Macleod and W. & S. Strong, Tomintoul Distillery began production in 1965 near the village of Tomintoul, Scotland's highest village. The distillery was designed to meet the growing demand for malt whisky during the 1960s. In 2000, Tomintoul was acquired by Angus Dundee Distillers, who continue to uphold the distillery's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Over the years, Tomintoul has expanded its range to include various age statements and finishes, earning accolades for its consistency and elegance.
The Distillery and Terroir
Located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, Tomintoul Distillery benefits from the pristine waters of the Ballantruan Spring. This natural resource, combined with traditional distilling methods, contributes to the distinctive character of Tomintoul whiskies. The distillery operates with a capacity of 3.3 million litres of pure alcohol per year, utilizing two wash stills and two spirit stills, all steam-heated.
