Founded by merchant George Cooper, Glencadam Distillery has a rich history of producing high-quality single malt whiskies. Over the years, it has changed ownership several times, with notable periods under Gilmour, Thompson & Co. and later Allied Domecq. In 2003, Angus Dundee plc acquired the distillery, revitalizing its operations and reintroducing Glencadam as a premium single malt brand.

The Distillery and Terroir

Located in Brechin, Angus, Glencadam Distillery is powered by the River South Esk. The distillery employs traditional methods, including the use of a working water wheel reinstalled in 2021, harking back to its 19th-century origins. This commitment to heritage ensures that each bottle of Glencadam whisky embodies the craftsmanship and quality that have defined the brand for nearly two centuries.

Glencadam whiskies are celebrated for their elegance and complexity. Typical tasting profiles include:

  • Glencadam 10 Year Old: Delicate floral notes with hints of honey, apples, and vanilla.
